FlySky FS-I6X 2.4Ghz Antenna Modification
Adding Two High Gain 3dbi External Antennas
More Gain For Better TX and RX Range
A project we carried out for one of our customers, This is a FlySky FS-I6X Radio controller used for controlling many different models including Radio controlled cars, Planes, Helicopters, Drones or any hobbies or projects which require remote control. This controller is a great transmitter for the price, many controllers from Spectrum or Futaba with 6-12 channel control can be quite expensive but the FS-I6X comes in a bit cheaper which means it can fill the gap and get you racing or in the air quickly.
Working Frequency
With the controller working on the 2.4Ghz (2400Mhz) Band from the normal 27Mhz, 35Mhz and 45Mhz controllers from quite a few years back, the 2.4Ghz range is a smaller wavelength which means distance sometimes maybe a bit short. The FS-I6X comes with a 1500m distance but this is line of sight any obstacles or other radio interference may weaken the signal from the transmitter to the receiver causing un-pairing of the system or general failure of control surfaces. With this modification we have done this should give good communication between the TX and RX and making flight or racing a bit more reliable and giving worry free control of your model whether it is in the air or on the ground.
Where to mount the antennas
We chose to mount the 2 new antennas above the VR:A and VR:B switches, we thought it seemed like a better place to mount them as to keep the look of the controller more aesthetically pleasing as the original antenna is in the centre position on top of the controller with the 2nd original antenna hidden in the handle, so our new antennas sit just beside these old positions. the mounting holes were 6.5mm drilled which gave plenty of room to insert the sockets without force and simply fit using the supplied anti-slip washer on the inside and spring washer on the outside of the controller and tighten slowly until the spring washer is flat and the anti-slip washer has flatten also, connect the RF connectors and you are ready to go.
You can purchase the antenna set from our online store or call into the shop. The kit includes everything you need to install and fit the 2 antennas and the cable connection is a simple mini RF push fit connection so you don’t need any special tools to install the new antennas.
